Review: Sharon Bolton Scents

I love when I get to try new products. I especially love when they arrive at my house in a beautiful gift box wrapped in a big bow. You can't help but feel important and special and like something grand is waiting for you inside.

And it was.

Sharon Bolton Scents gifted me with her Body Wash, Lotion and Perfume Oil in Luv. When I popped open the Body Wash to take in the scent of Luv, the most unprofessional of words came out of my mouth: "OH.MY.GOD." Luv smelled like heaven. It smelled like luxury in a bottle.

Luv is the scent of rare pink gardenias, lush Hawaiian white flowers, with a hint of creamy vanilla and a whisper of white musk.

The Body Wash is thick and creamy and makes you feel like you are showering at a 5 Star hotel. This scent absolutely lifted my spirits and made me feel like I was being purely indulgent. The one thing I love most is tons and tons of thick luxurious lathering bubbles. This Body Wash delivers and I would think that I could take a bubble bath with it and get lost in the bubbles.

The Lotion's scent lasted on my skin for a long while. It wasn't too strong, but strong enough that I didn't need my arm to my nose to smell it. The only word I can think of is "pretty." This lotion just made you feel pretty.

The Perfume Oil comes in a compact roll on bottle that doesn't take up much room in your makeup bag or your purse for that matter.

Sharon Bolton Scents also has two other wonderful scents; Truth and Soul. Truth is lemon-lime with an exotic floral and airy musk. Soul is coconut, papaya and pineapple with undertones of a clean musk. Both smelled wonderful.

The ordinary (spa) girl who can do extraordinary things

Sometimes even I amaze myself. When I first started this blog, I pouted and pouted because I thought no one was listening. I kept it going with encouragement from my friends.

Thank goodness for that encouragement because this blog has lead me to some very BIG things in the last 2 months.

First being given the chance to be a columnist for She Unlimited when they relaunch...which I believe is in November--so be on the lookout!

Then joining b5media to become the blogger for Makeup Minute, and the success there has been huge and beyond anything I could have hoped for.

Then this week being asked to blog for Pierce Mattie Public Relations. This, my friends, blew me out of the water.

I cannot even begin to tell you how this ordinary girl feels right now. She feels important. She feels respected. She feels valued.

My posts are now showing on Pierce Mattie's blog, so be sure to look for the posts written by "Shannon." Hopefully you will want to join in on the conversation and post a comment there to what I've written.

Posts on this blog will now be cut back a bit. I will be blogging here twice a week, unless there is something incredible going on and I want to let you know. I still have many more products from Maryam's Soap Nook to write reviews on, as well as other products as well. And, of course, you will always know what is going on with Country Bunny Bath & Body specials.

Thank you loyal readers for being a part of propelling me into the stratosphere!

Review: Exfoliating Body Wash by Maryam's Soap Nook

There's nothing like someone sending you a VIP gift package in the mail to make you feel important. What's even better, is when the VIP contents smell incredible.

My VIP package came from Maryam's Soap Nook. Today's review will be about her Exfoliating Body Wash with Kukui Nut Oil and Jojoba Beads. This product was sent in an out of this world fragrance---Pomegranate and Wild Berries.

This wonderfully pink Body Wash with it's blue-green Jojoba Beads lives up to my expectations of not only smelling wonderful, but also working just as well. My shower filled with the wonderful Pomegranate and Wild Berry scent, while lathering and exfoliating my skin. The Kukui Oil was soothing and left my skin feeling moisturized.

The best thing? The fragrance remained on my skin even after the shower.

Try it for yourself! 8oz. is $10 www.maryam-soap-nook.com

Review: K-Pak Liquid Reconstruct

As my hair gets longer, I find that it splits and freys a little more easier, or just seems a little more obvious, and that my hair tangles a lot more causing me to wish (for just one millisecond) for short hair again.

Back in July, Joico's K-Pak Liquid Reconstruction is one of the many birthday gifts that Elke gave me. It seems all the gifts, just seem to keep on giving. This product has been a miracle worker, along with the Joico K-Pak Smoothing Balm.

It's a weightless and scentless spray that I spray on before I comb through my hair. I noticed that it helped considerably on detangling my tresses, even though that is not the purpose of this product. But I admit, it surely is an added bonus!

This spray doesn't weigh my hair down and I noticed that my hair has less frizz and noticeable damage to it. When I have gone days without using it, simply due to me not being able to have eyes behind my head to watch my ever-curious children and sparing for time, I noticed my hair looked dull and dry and just plain gross.

Joico's Liquid Reconstruct is something that is now a staple in my hair care. Have you used any Joico products? Post a comment and let me know!

Review: Bikini Kitty Shave System

Bikini Kitty is a Shave Care System to eliminate and prevent razor rash, ingrown hair and provide an irritation free shave. Bikini Kitty's products are vegan and organic.

The kit comes in a very handy vinyl bag with handles. It includes a Body Brush, Everyday Magic Spray, Shave Gel, No nick Razor Oil, Razor-burn soother and 2 single blade disposable razors.

How the system works:

Step one: Exfoliate with the Body Brush
A quick brush with Bikini Kitty's Body Brush before every shower will sluff off dead skin, stimulate cell turn-over and unfurled any potentially ingrown hair.

Use everyday: Everyday Magic Spray
This product is made of lemon, orange and sugar acids which unclog ingrown hair follicles and heals razor bumps. Just spray over the areas where you shave.

Step Two: Apply the Shave Gel towards the end of your shower.
Applying the Shave Gel at the end of your shower, allows for your hair to soften. This Shave Gel is a non-foaming, skin hydrating, hair softening shave gel. It's made of cucumber distillate and fortified with aloe.

Use the right razor and shave in the right direction.
Bikini Kitty recommends using single blade disposable razors. They also recommend you shave in the same direction of hair growth.

Use with every shave: No nick Razor Oil
The No nikc razor oil is to be applied directly to your razor blade and will help in elminating razor rash.

Step Three: Use the Razor Burn Soother after every shave.
This product is made of Aloe, Black Willow Bark and Need oil. It is cortizone and pertroleum free. The Razor Burn Soother will provide soothing and healing relief.

What I thought:

I was impressed with how many products were in the kit and their size. I also noticed that a little goes a long way. Bikini Kitty states on their website that the kit will last you for 3 months.

The first few times I used the Body Brush, I found it a little abrasive. It actually kind of hurt. However, I did notice that it really worked. Those ingrown hairs at my knees came undone in a few days. Also, it did prevent further ingrown hair. Something I always battle on my knees and it drives me nuts.

The Everyday Magic Spray was easy enough, I just sprayed it on my legs before applying my lotion. I really liked the Shave Gel. I had less irritation on my legs and under my arms. It has been a very long time since I have used a single blade disposable razor, but Bikini Kitty states that these razors are much better to use than multi-blade razors.

Overall, I think it was a nice shave care system and I liked that it was all natural ingredients. They also make a shave care system for men.

Soaps from Bath and Body Bliss

Do you remember a long time ago when Garden Botanika made their seaweed soap? Gosh I loved that soap and I have been on the hunt for something similar for a while, which is how I originally came across Bath and Body Bliss. The owner let me know that she made a seaweed soap and it happened to be on sale, so I thought why not?

When I received my products, and the extra goodies she threw in there, I almost didn't want to take anything out of the packaging. Everything was so decorative and had that Prim Country look to it. It crossed my mind to just sit a few soaps out for display, that's really how pretty everything looked.

I crossed my fingers and hoped that the soap was just as good as the pretty packaging. The Seaweed Soap smelled so nice and you could just feel from the bar that this soap would just glide across your skin. The Seaweed Soap is made of kelp, sage, chamomile and is scented with sage and rosemary essential oils. I loved that this soap was mildly abrasive, exfoliating my skin nicely, while creating a great lather. This soap felt wonderful.

I also purchased another bar of soap, called the Seaside Spa Bar. This was another exfoliating soap with essential oils, butters, aloe vera juice, french green clay, kelp and flaxseed. This soap scrubbed a little bit harder than the Seaweed Soap, which both my husband and I didn't mind at all. I especially loved using it across my belly which is starting to become dry from those pregnancy hormones. The only thing that my husband didn't like was that the seeds kept getting stuck in his hair, which if you should know, my husband is really Bigfoot. He's that tall and that hairy. (But he's darn good looking!) However, despite the seeds coming out of the soap with each use, I would really recommend this soap for people with really dry skin or stubborn dry patches.

For the kids I got them the Bubble Yum Soap, which really smells like bubblegum and has lasted the longest of all of the soaps. It seems to be a bit bigger and thicker. When I first received it, it smelled like my other soaps, but as it spent a day on its own wooden stand in the shower, that bubblegum smell really came to life. The boys really look forward to using it each day, which is good because then I know my boys are finally taking the time to get themself clean.

Right now Bath and Body Bliss is having a soap sale, and of course has many fabulous soaps in their store. They even have a Soap of the Month Club. www.bathandbodybliss.com

Brown Sugar Scrub by Bath and Body Bliss

When you are pregnant, scents are a love hate affair, especially if they are food-related. Some immediately send you running for the bathroom, while others can create some pretty strong cravings.

So was the case when I received some products from Bath and Body Bliss. As soon as I opened their Brown Sugar Scrub, immediate memories of Mulling Spices and wonderful Holiday memories came flooding back. This scent was so incredible that while in the shower, it made me think of Sweet Potatoes from Texas Roadhouse smoothered in butter and brown sugar. The scent was THAT good.

I have never used a Sugar Scrub before, so I was unsure exactly what the texture would be like. I found it to be soft and non-abrasive, while it also lathered and felt so silky smooth. Bath and Body Bliss's Sugar Scrub is made of Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Butter, Chamomile, Patchouli, Jasmine, Yarrow and fresh brown sugar. Talk about moisturizing and I loved how it left the scent on my skin even after leaving the shower. My boys were begging to use this product, as well.

Some of their other Scrubs include: Chocolate Exfoliating Body Wash, Gingerbread Man Scrub and The Pumpkin Patch Body Scrub.

Shea Butter soap by Hollyrose Aromatherapy

Last week I received some products from Hollyrose Aromatherapy. I was excited, as my entire mailbox was filled with such a wonderful scent. Holly sent me a Shea Butter soap in her custom Aromatherapy blend and a Cocoa Butter Bath Truffle in the same scent.

The soap was larger than expected and I loved the "Handmade" imprint. Holly's custom Aromatherapy blend is a mix of peppermint, sweet orange, bergamont, lavender and rosemary. I absolutely loved this scent. When using this soap in the shower, the scent was really refreshing and invigorating.

My Shea Butter Soap came in a blue-ish green color, which delighted my 4 year old who has Pervasive Development Disorder, a form of Autism. Green is his favorite color and he asked how, "the soap girl" knew to send a soap in Green. In our house, everything revolves around the color Green with our son, so he was most excited to take a shower each morning using this soap.

Hollyrose Aromatherapy sells other handmade products such as Foaming Bath Butter, Roll-on Perfume Oil, Emu Oil, Soy candles, Sugar Scrubs and so on.

Design-her Gals

Have you noticed that cute banner in my sidebar with the lovely looking pregnant gal that looks a little similar to me? That would be my blog gal from Design-her Gals.

Design-her Gals and their Gal to Gal Foundation are trying to raise $50,000 in the month of October for women with Stage 4 breast cancer. This year, the funds that are raised will be going to Making Memories, a wonderful organization that fulfills wishes for Stage 4 breast cancer patients and their families. In addition, they will be helping sponsor the first global internet site designed exclusively for patients in advanced stages of breast cancer. This site will be multi-tiered and multi purpose and will serve as a centralized location for all Stage IV resources.

To raise the $50,000, they are selling a t-shirt that says, "Breast Cancer has no borders," and donating $10 from every paper print order that you make. You can design your Gal and have it printed up on cards, labels, stationary and so on. The Gal "dressing room" is filled with adorable ideas to make your Gal look the most like you.

Be sure to go check them out by clicking the banner in my sidebar, spread the word and help them reach their $50,000 goal.
