In only a few short weeks I will be visiting in NYC. It all seems unbelievable really when I think about it. Here I was, back in August '06 blogging about an ad that totally pissed me off. Steve Hultgren of Pierce Mattie took notice, wrote a post on their blog that I got upset about, which landed me calling him and so our relationship began. You would laugh too knowing how mad I was that day and how things have completely changed ever since. In fact, we think it was fate.
I have to believe that Steve has given me a chance of a lifetime. Where else can you blog for one of the top PR firms in the country? Not only that, I don't have to compromise on the whole WAHM thing. I get to be the mom I have always wanted to be to my kids and be home with them, while doing something great at the same time.
The thing I love about Steve (who is the President of Pierce Mattie PR) is that he is brutally honest with me. He'll tell me when I wrote a crappy post, but many more times he will encourage me and make me see the potential that lies within. I talk to him several times a day and this has made me come to know him pretty well. My gosh, I would even say I love him. That seems so funny to say considering what I was muttering under my breath back in August. Of course, I mean I love him in a friend-way for anyone out there that would think weird crazy thoughts. My husband is probably sick of me talking about Steve, but he is someone I greatly admire and consider more than just my boss, but my friend. Bosses can lead you, but a friend can guide and encourage you.
In recent weeks I have started to come to know Pierce, and if he reads this he will probably laugh when he hears that I sometimes feel intimidated by him. Not in a bad mean way, but because of who he is in this business. I obviously know that every time I write a post I represent him and his firm. That is a pretty heavy weight on my shoulders and not something I take lightly. So many times I am nervous that I am not good enough, but then I'll hear, "I love this post!" and I can breathe a sigh of relief. One thing I have learned about him, is that he is a human being as much as I am. :)
It's pretty cool to be a sort of outsider and yet be able to connect with Steve and Pierce each day. I have to say that I honestly love this job and it has filled me with such passion that I never realized I had.
So when I know I am heading to NYC the first weekend in March and get to have my hair done by Alyn Topper with many other perks (including a fabulous hotel stay) because of Pierce Mattie PR, I can't help but be overwhelmed. I'm excited to meet Alyn, of which I am a fan, I'm excited to do things I never do here back home (like put myself first!) and I look forward to walking into the offices of Pierce Mattie PR to meet everyone and finally feel like part of the family. Well, I already do, but you know what I mean...it's different when you get to actually see everything and everyone in person.
I'm sure there will be people who post a comment that I am ass kissing. That seems to always be the way when I write a glowing post about something or someone. But no matter what anyone thinks, this little fish is sincerely happy to be swimming with the big fishes.

Review: Korres Wild Rose Brightening Serum
I've never used a brightening serum before and I was a bit skeptical about how exactly this serum was going to brighten my face--hey I've already got that pregnancy glow, right?
What Korres says about this product:
An ultra concentrated serum enriched with Baobab-tree polysaccharides that provide an instant firming and line-smoothing effect. An active agent derived from Wheat is clinically proven to reduce considerably the number, depth and length of wrinkles. Wild Rose oil is a natural source of vitamin C, which demonstrates significant repairing activity to skin colour disorders, adding brightness and radiance to the skin.
The Wild Rose Brightening Serum is also:
* Dermatologically Tested
* Mineral Oil Free
* Silicone Free
* Propylene Glycol Free
* Ethanolamine Free
It's all natural and contains Wild Rose oil, Vitamin C, Baobab gel, Ginseng extract, Quince extract, provitamin B5.
What I thought:
I loved the very light rose scent. Not too florally or overly done. Nothing that would cause you to think it was too fragrant. The serum was tan in color and it only took 3 pumps to cover my entire face and eye area. It only pumps out a small amount at a time, so the 3 pumps really wasn't a lot of product.
I do admit that my face did appear to liven up. I definitely used this product several times to ensure I was getting the same effect each time and without fail, each time my face seemed to have the brightening effect they talk about. Was it dramatic? No, but it was noticable.
I did notice that my cheeks had a little bit of red from it, but it was easily rectified by using the technique I talked about last month on Makeup Minute.
If you've used Korres Wild Rose Brightening Serum, what did you think?

Review: Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment
Ojon is the talk of the town these days. If you haven't seen them on QVC, then you've surely heard other beauty bloggers raving about their products. Ojon's Restorative Hair Treatment contains 100% Ojon palm nut oil from the rainforest in Central America. I had received their 5-piece Nurturing Hair Ritual Kit which contained their Ultra Hydrating Shampoo, Conditioner, Revitalizing Mist, Hydrating Styling Cream and the Restorative Hair Treatment. You can see my (rave rave rave) review on this kit on Pierce Mattie's Beauty PR blog. I simply cannot get enough of that Shampoo & Conditioner!
It took me a while to finally get around to trying out the Restorative Hair Treatment, simply because you need to leave it on for 25 minutes. Tell me when I have 25 minutes to spare when brushing my teeth involves my kids vying for my attention. So I've somehow managed to convince my husband to let me get an hour of "home spa" time each Saturday. I finally had the chance to use the Restorative Hair Treatment that has been sitting on my counter begging me to use it.
It is a small container, but as they say, good things come in small packages. You really don't need too much of this product to make it work for you. I have pretty long hair, so it took me 3 teaspoons full to fully saturate my hair. You simply scoop some into your hands, rub them together to warm it up, it then becomes more liquid-like and you can smooth it through your hair. Once you've smoothed it through your hair with your hands/fingers, you then use a pick to comb through your hair to make sure it is evenly distributed, then let it sit for 25 minutes.
After rinsing it out you shampoo and condition as usual. The scent is a little different from the other products. All have a nutty scent to them, but the Restorative Hair Treatment has a nutty fresh ground coffee bean scent. I love coffee, so I didn't mind the scent at all.
I noticed my hair felt soft and managable and brought back a lot of shine. This is a product you would only use once per week as a deep conditioner, although you may be tempted to use it more often because of how marvelous your hair will smell and feel.

Herbal Essences says, "Dump Cupid" this Valentine's Day
Dump Cupid is a site dedicated to the woman who knows she doesn’t need cupid to make her Valentine’s Day.

The site has cool features such as a Sweepstakes ($25,000 luscious shopping spree) and three very funny Webisodes (videos) with cupid in precarious situations. You have to check these out--they are hysterical!
In addition, Herbal Essences is inviting people to submit their best and worst love stories to be featured each week in the Match-Ups and Mix-Ups section of the site. Each week, the top 5 stories are posted. Later in the month, additional features will be added. Review: Spa Towells
I have to admit, when I was approached to review Spa Towells, I wondered what it would look like and if it would actually work. I received a few packages of the towells, which were pretty good size. In fact, the towells were bigger than I imagined them to be. They are 8x8, which for image purposes imagine opening up a tri-folded papertowel like those in women's restrooms.
The scent is very light and very pretty. I couldn't place my finger....err nose on what exactly the scent was. I could smell some floral, but then sugary sweet cotton candy. This seemed to make me feel as if I was applying a pink lotion, although the lotion is clear.
When you open your towell, you can feel the lotion on it and the towell itself has deep ridges/pockets in it and has a good thickness to it. I simply swiped the towell over my skin as if it were a facecloth. I then rubbed the lotion that was on my skin all over. One towell had enough lotion on it to cover both my lower legs, both my arms and my stomach area.
I made sure to check my skin throughout the day, and sure enough, my skin was very soft. There are some pretty fabulous ingredients in these Spa Towells such as Safflower Oil, Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil and Glycerin.
If you travel, I think the Spa Towell offers a lot of convenience. Even if you don't travel, it can easily fit into your purse without any chance of a spill. You can find these fabulous Spa Towells at www.SpaTowells.com
