When young Heather Madden refused to wear a traditional bow on her ponytail her entrepreneur mom, Kim, created a Sassy Tail to solve the problem. Heather's friends and classmates soon wanted their own Sassy Tails, creating a demand that has spread nationwide since the company's formation in 2004.
Sassy Tails are unique hair accessories that dress up traditional ponytails and hairdos. Sheer and shiny ribbons, beads and feathers are attached to elastic ponytail holders, making them easy to use and equally stylish. Color combinations and styles range from dramatic and vivid to subtle and sophisticated. Sassy Tails look great with jeans and school uniforms but are also appropriate for proms, graduations and weddings.
Cheetah Girl Dorinda (Sabrina Bryan) wore the best-selling Cheetah Grrl Sassy Tail on the group's recent concert tour. Part of the Feather Fashion line, it pairs pink feathers with sheer animal print ribbon. Other designs feature satin and linen ribbons, colorful beads - many of them crystal studded - and sheer ribbons either plain or with fun prints.
Company co-founder Kim Madden insists that Sassy Tails® isn't just a hair accessories company; its mission is to promote entrepreneurialism among young women. To that end, she considers nine-year old Heather the company's co-founder. The Sassy Tails® Junior Advisory Board, comprised of 20 girls ages eight-years old and up, submits designs and ideas for new styles; these are regularly added to the company's product line.
